One million Tree Plantation Programme

Introduction

As announced in 2023-2024 Budget Speech, Mauri-Facilities Management Co Ltd has been entrusted with the responsibility to implement a 1 million Tree Plantation Programme in collaboration with the National Environment Cleaning Authority (NECA).

The objective is to contribute to a mitigation action against climate change by planting trees across the island.

Projects / Initiatives

Mauri-Facilities Management Co Ltd is seeking the collaboration of partners to implement the Programme through the following projects/initiatives:

  Initiatives Short Description
1. Capacity building in primary schools Partner(s) will collaborate to educate primary school children and support them to produce and develop seedlings and plants for distribution to their families and communities for dissemination across the country.
2.

Setting up of a

National Plant Nursery

Partner(s) will produce, nurture and store sufficient plant seedlings for easy distribution to households and organizations for planting across the country
3. Setting up a centralized composting facility Partner(s) will collect green waste and produce quality compost to further contribute to the greening activities.
4.

Outreach and

sensitization in secondary and Tertiary institutions

Partner(s) will collaborate to conduct sensitization campaign in secondary and Tertiary institutions with a view to involving students from these institutions into planting projects.
5.

Creation mini forests and planting

campaign

Partner(s) will collaborate with relevant stakeholders to identify plots of land, procure or collect appropriate plants and engage professionals and volunteers in planting of trees across the country.
6. Educational and promotional campaign Partner(s) will use the media and other promotional tools to engage citizens and institutions to understand, join and sustain the 1million tree planting programme and harness wide collaboration in a diversity of initiatives,

Submission of Expression of Interest (EOI)

• Applications, in writing, are invited from public, private or civil society organizations having the necessary experience in the field. Applications should contain a short description of the project proposal, together with cost implications including equipment and HR requirement and time line. Name and contact numbers of partners should be clearly provided.

• An entity may apply for more than one project/initiative depending on its expertise and capacity. The project/initiative applied for should be clearly marked on the envelopes at time of submission.

• Potential partners may be required to make a presentation of their knowhow and expertise at the evaluation stage before any final decision is made.

• Awardees will be required to sign a Funding Contract Agreement with Mauri-Facilities Management Co. Ltd before funds are disbursed.
